 Brethren,

I want to remind everyone to keep their wins/losses updated on the website. I am glad to report that almost every team has updated their schedules at least in part. If you are having trouble getting it done please contact me and I will help you. The power rankings are only as accurate as the information that is entered. When you don't enter the most current information it not only affects your teams' power ranking but it affects the ranking of teams you have played.

The power rankings cannot be totally objective because teams do not play the same opponents, strength of schedule or number of games. The rankings are a numbers system that is accurate enough to show about where teams are performing against other teams. I already see where a few tweeks in the calculation method can make the rankings more accurate. We are continuing to work on it.

When we seed the tournament we will look at the rankings, a spread sheet that will show us head to head competition between teams, and other factors such as, performance in the later season, the return or addition of players that can make a team better, etc. The power rankings will not be the only criteria used to seed.

I sent out a poll concerning a 2 day format verses a 3 day format for the tournament. A good number of teams responded and the majority was fine with a 2 day format. A few teams were in strong favor of 2 days and a few were in strong favor of 3 days. The others signified that they leaned toward one but would be fine either way. Considering the late timing of the poll and the parity in the kcsaa this year, it was determined that we should not change the format. We will continue the discussion during the season and take it up in the post season. the poll was not a vote, but an attempt to see how teams felt about the length of the tournament.

Please contact the commissioner, Bro. James Mills or any of the board members with questions, ideas or other issues. Communication is essential in the maintenance and improvement of the kcsaa.

Gratefully,

Bro. Darrell Goodlett

We have added to the website power rankings for basketball and volleyball. The web designer has added a program that calculates these rankings. Strength of schedule and wins-losses are essential in the calculations. Please keep your schedule updated with your wins and losses. It will enable the power rankings to be accurate. The rankings will be more accurate as teams play more games.
